Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Amy L. Mitchell and Wesley T. Sprague have joined the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group as of counsel attorneys in the firm’s Houston office. Both attorneys join the firm with decades of experience litigating cases in county, state, and federal district courts in Texas.
Amy represents clients through a wide range of personal injury, construction defect, and commercial litigation matters, effectively managing all aspects of casework from inception to conclusion. During nearly four decades as an attorney, she has handled more than 3,000 litigation cases and successfully tried over 80 trials, utilizing her multifaceted skills as a powerful trial advocate and certified arbitrator to achieve optimal outcomes both in and out of the courtroom.
While handling complex commercial, personal injury, and construction litigation, Wes uses his breadth of knowledge in personal injury matters, insurance law, and commercial litigation to navigate all components of liability, preserving his clients’ interests with proactive strategies that maximize favorable outcomes while limiting risk. In addition to defending companies, manufacturers, and property owners in court and in arbitration proceedings, Wes performs comprehensive risk assessments for clients prior to conflicts arising.
“The Houston office boasts an incredibly strong group of litigators across all focus areas,” said Brian Zimmerman, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Houston. “We are always ecstatic to bring in attorneys with decades of experience fine-tuning their practices and know Amy and Wes will be highly influential members of our team as the litigation group continues to expand.”
Amy completed her undergraduate degree at the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y.) Oneonta and earned her Juris Doctor at Case Western Reserve University. After attending Stephen F. Austin State University for his undergraduate degree, Wes earned his Juris Doctor at the South Texas College of Law.
Both attorneys are proactive members of numerous Texas-based initiatives and organizations and heavily influential in the legal sphere. In addition to serving on multiple charitable and community groups, Amy has previously helped plan and conduct seminars on immigration law and fee agreements presented to over 100 lawyers and judges. Wes, meanwhile, is an active member of the Houston Bar Association, where he dedicates time to providing free legal aid for low-income and unhoused individuals.
