Peter Goplerud Gives Update on Collegiate Name, Image, and Likeness

September 27, 2021

Spencer Fane attorney Peter Goplerud recently wrote an article for Missouri Lawyers Media covering collegiate athletes’ legal rights to benefit from the use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL).

Titled “Name, Image & Likeness (NIL): Novel Legal Issues to Address for Colleges, Universities,” the article discusses current and pending NIL laws and how colleges and universities should prepare to respond.

“The NIL landscape is in its infancy and will undoubtedly be very volatile for the next year or so,” Peter explained in the article. “Colleges and universities are well advised to give careful consideration to the policies to be developed internally, the resources to commit and the responsibilities they have to their athletes.”
