Spencer Fane is pleased to announce attorney DeAndrea Washington has been named to the Houston Business Journal (HBJ) class of 2023 40 Under 40 honorees.
This award acknowledges DeAndrea as an emerging business leader in the Houston area under the age of 40. Selected from nearly 300 nominees, DeAndrea has earned this achievement based on her exceptional professional accomplishments, significant community involvement, philanthropic efforts, and other exemplary qualities.
As part of this recognition, DeAndrea and her fellow honorees will be formally celebrated at the 40 Under 40 award ceremony on July 27 and featured in a July 28 special edition of the HBJ. This will be the second time in this year alone that DeAndrea has been recognized by the HBJ for her accomplishments. In April, DeAndrea earned the Outstanding Diversity Champion title, a Diversity in Business Award honor, in recognition of her exceptional commitment to promoting the practices that advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
At Spencer Fane, DeAndrea focuses her practice on a variety of labor and employment litigation matters. She provides preventive counsel and litigates employment disputes on behalf of public and private employers in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies, such as the Texas Workforce Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the United States Department of Labor.
DeAndrea also advocates for DEI in the legal field and is a respected voice in the firm’s leadership. She serves as a DEI advisor to the Spencer Fane Executive Committee and a member of the DEI Committee. She believes strongly in the advancement of women and minorities in the legal industry and uses her platform to improve the firm and the Houston business community.
