Andrew Brought Provides Insight into RCRA Organic Air Emission Standards and Compliance

November 12, 2021

Spencer Fane attorney Andrew Brought recently authored an article for Industry Today covering the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Organic Air Emission Standards and recent examples of non-compliance.

Titled “EPA Issues Fines for RCRA Air Emission Violations,” the article discusses the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) focus on preventing ozone precursors by reducing air emissions from hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities. Andrew describes five instances where companies have violated RCRA standards and received fines from the EPA.

“Another notable point featured in the EPA Region 5 press releases involves the fact that the agency brought the two recent enforcement cases in connection with EPA’s Environmental Justice enforcement initiative, because the facilities storing and managing hazardous waste were located in communities with environmental justice concerns,” Andrew explained.
