S. Chase Fann
Overview
Chase Fann is a passionate litigator with diverse experience across a variety of practice areas in both civil and criminal law. He has experience in business, civil rights, contracts, criminal defense, employment, personal injury, and entertainment matters, and this unique exposure to a wide range of practice areas allows him to serve as lead or co-counsel for plaintiffs and defendants in both state and federal courts at the trial and appellate level.
As a litigator, Chase creatively and thoroughly advances his clients’ positions through written and oral advocacy in motions, briefs, bench trials, and jury trials. Chase also regularly assists his business clients in avoiding litigation by providing pre-litigation counseling and advice to those who are making difficult decisions that may have legal implications.
Chase completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee before earning his Juris Doctor from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis, where he finished ranked second in his class and received awards for earning the best grade in 10 courses. Prior to entering private practice, he served as an extern for the Hon. John T. Fowlkes, Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and an intern for the Davidson County District Attorney General’s Office and the Hon. Julia S. Gibbons in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Prior to joining Spencer Fane, Chase practiced with his family’s boutique litigation firm, Waldron Fann & Parsley, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
