Drew Brought Discusses OSHA Heat Rulemaking in Business Insurance

April 16, 2025

Spencer Fane attorney Andrew Brought’s perspective as an OSHA attorney was recently featured in the Business Insurance article, Employers Still on Hook Despite Halt of OSHA’s Heat Rulemaking: Experts.

In his discussion with reporter Louise Esola, Drew weighed in on the Trump administration’s freeze on rulemaking that took effect in January, which affects how employers might manage workplace safety during extreme summer temperatures.

“The likelihood of [the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration] moving forward with a final heat rulemaking in the current administration appears remote, given that OSHA has removed the previous references to the heat injury and illness prevention rulemaking from its website,” Drew opined.

At Spencer Fane, Drew counsels clients with complex challenges at the intersection of health, safety, and environmental regulations and is frequently called upon to assist in handling crisis management situations, strategic response, and incident investigations.
