Yara Calcaño vigorously defends health care providers facing medical malpractice claims and related complaints filed with the Texas Medical Board, employing her intricate knowledge of health care systems and regulatory complexities to protect physicians and other providers while preserving their reputations.

Yara boasts state and federal litigation experience in New York, Washington, D.C., and Texas. Early in her career, she defended tenants and homeowners in securing housing in New York City. In Texas, she defended private and nonprofit organizations in home insurance claims before ultimately focusing her practice on health care law.

Prior to and while pursuing her Juris Doctor, Yara worked across diverse, public-sector organizations rooted in human rights and justice initiatives, including the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York City, the Disability Rights Law Clinic and Center for Justice and International Law in Washington, D.C., and as a United Nations International Law Commission Special Assistant to Commissioner Claudio Grossman in Geneva, Switzerland. As a native Spanish speaker, she frequently provided legal support to native Spanish speakers across all roles.
