Jennifer M. Blomstrom
Overview
Jennifer Blomstrom provides clients adept counsel on a wide variety of insurance matters, preparing coverage opinions and representing both policyholders and insurance carriers in coverage disputes and litigation with an acute attention to detail and precise execution which has come to define her practice.
At the beginning of her legal career, Jennifer was actively involved in representing insurers in direct action litigation in Louisiana. Following her move to Colorado, she served as in-house coverage counsel to an insurance provider. In this role, she spent significant time drafting coverage opinions and coverage position letters and acted as a primary liaison between claims and underwriting departments to identify and correct potential ambiguities in policy language. This critical experience allows her to view disputes from multiple perspectives, prioritize risk-averse language in written materials, and cultivate the most robust strategies for her clients.
After more than 15 years building a comprehensive set of skills and book of business, Jennifer agilely navigates a diverse array of claims, including construction defect, employment practices, copyright infringement, professional malpractice, public entity liability, and other availability of coverage questions. She has notably advised on insurance coverage issues involving the laws of multiple states, including insuring agreement requirements, duty to defend, and extra-contractual exposure.
Jennifer is frequently called on by peers for an in-house perspective amid ongoing insurance litigation. Her clients and colleagues alike recognize her high responsiveness, fierce dedication, and innate ability to isolate, organize, and assemble policy technicalities and claim facts in even the most intricate coverage cases. These have included multi-year trigger and allocation, additional insured and contractual indemnity, as well as extra-contractual liability arising out of state-specific claim-handling guidelines and time limit demands.
