Spencer Fane attorneys Phil Ashfield and Ian Rubenstrunk joined the panel, Alternatives to Bankruptcy – Receiverships, ABCs and More, at the 2024 Bankruptcy Institute on October 8 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Presented by Minnesota Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Minnesota Bar Association Bankruptcy Section, the annual two-day event brings together national authorities and state thought leaders to provide educational and networking opportunities to attendees. During their breakout session, Phil and Ian discussed current developments and key aspects of receiverships and assignment for the benefit of creditors. Topics included situations where parties may want to consider a nonbankruptcy solution for a distressed or insolvency situation as well as recent cases that impact jurisdictional questions facing both bankruptcy and nonbankruptcy insolvency proceedings.
At Spencer Fane, Phil represents equipment financing and leasing companies, unsecured creditor committees, corporate debtors, trustees, banks, and other entities in bankruptcies, workouts, receiverships, and other commercial disputes, maximizing recoveries and minimizing risks both in and out of the courtroom so clients can maintain a focus on improving and growing operations.
Ian assists a wide array of clients including banks, credit unions, nontraditional lenders, private equity, equipment financers, receivers, landlords, and asset buyers in financial services matters, with a focus on all sides of distressed transactions and turnaround matters.
