Spencer Fane attorneys Ed Burdzinski and Shawn Tuma were returning presenters for the Southwest Association of Bank Counsel (SWABC) and Texas Bankers Association-hosted Legal Conference in Austin, Texas. Ed, 2023-2024 President and Director of SWABC, helped organize the September 11-13 event.
The Legal Conference allows finance industry-focused attorneys to network and attend MCLE and CPE sessions focused on timely banking industry issues. Topics included the rise of artificial intelligence, liability under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, bank and wire fraud, and more.
In addition to leading the annual SWABC Member and Board of Directors Meetings, Ed led the presentation Beneficial Ownership Rules Update. Shawn led the cybersecurity-centered session Navigating the Cyber Battlefield – Insights from a Breach Quarterback.
At Spencer Fane, Ed regularly delivers commercial loan documentation for financial institutions, including commercial construction, real estate, and asset-based credit facilities, with an understanding of the internal challenges facing his clients. Shawn co-leads the firm’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group and also serves as Office Managing Partner for the firm’s Plano office. He represents a wide range of clients in dealing with cybersecurity, data privacy, data breach and incident response, regulatory compliance, computer fraud-related legal issues, and cyber-related litigation.
