October 29, 2024

Spencer Fane attorney and DEI Committee Chair James Crumlin accepted an invitation to speak at Fisk University on October 16.

Presenting to Professor Sharanda Nechole Smith’s freshman orientation class, James provided numerous insights into his impressive professional journey. He highlighted some of his career accomplishments, discussed navigating professional challenges and opportunities, and provided advice to students considering careers in corporate law.

As part of such ongoing involvement with local youth and early career professionals, James also spoke at New Hope Academy and the Nashville Junior Chamber Leadership Conference earlier this year.

At Spencer Fane, James helps clients navigate the corporate legal landscape and avoid costly mistakes, so employers can focus on running successful operations. As Chair of the firm’s DEI Committee, he also works in tandem with other firm leadership to build, maintain, and leverage a diverse and inclusive law firm through robust efforts that earned him Law Firm Ally of the Year at the 2024 Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards.

James is also an active member of his local community. He founded Nashville’s Capitol Steps Workout and fervently supports several organizations, such as the Leadership Nashville Foundation, American Baptist College, YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee, S3 Recycling Solutions, Leadership Middle Tennessee, and many more.
