September 24, 2024

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Arnold D. Lee joined the firm’s Phoenix office as an of counsel attorney in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group.

Arnold helps individuals and entities navigate complex matters through litigation and alternative dispute resolution, providing sound representation in state and federal courts and thoughtful guidance in mediation and arbitration. He most recently served as a Special Assistant Attorney General within the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, specifically representing state agencies in cases pertaining to parental rights, protecting vulnerable adults, equal employment and employee compensation matters, bankruptcy litigation, and contractual and administrative law proceedings.

Arnold also boasts in-depth experience as an attorney for victims of domestic violence, where he conducted and oversaw all elements of his cases, from client intake to resolution. Early in his legal career, he owned and co-owned two private practices, gaining all-encompassing experience which has shaped his ability to effectively shift between resolute courtroom representation and flexible, alternative resolution strategies depending on individual circumstances.

“Arnold’s decades of markedly diverse experience contributed to the development of a trusted, full-service approach to law which resonates with so many of our clients,” said David E. Funkhouser, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Phoenix. “Our team, while strong and dynamic, remains eager to expand our litigation practice in meaningful ways. Bringing in a new attorney whose background runs the gamut of teaching, private practice ownership, and agency representation within a state attorney general’s office will offer an entirely new perspective and unique skill set to complement our growing practice.”

Arnold completed his undergraduate degree and Master of Education at Delta State University. Following, he served as a teacher, committee chairman, and advisor for multiple student organizations at John F. Kennedy High School before completing a stint as an adjunct professor at a local community college. Arnold later earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he notably became the first African American to be named chairman of the Moot Court Board and served as secretary of the Black Law Students Association.
