Ayesha Mehdi Assists SABA-LV in Coordinating $40K in Scholarships Awarded at 2024 Formal

August 26, 2024

Spencer Fane attorney Ayesha Mehdi, vice president and scholarship committee member of the South Asian Bar Association of Las Vegas (SABA-LV), played an impactful role in coordinating nearly $40,000 in scholarships recently awarded during the organization’s 2024 Formal. Ayesha helped review the applications, which ultimately selected 12 minority law students as recipients during the August 10 event held at the Treasure Island Ballroom on the Las Vegas Strip.

In addition to SABA-LV members, the event was attended by many impactful community leaders, including Nevada Supreme Court Justice Patty Lee, Boyd Law School Dean Leah Chan Grinvald, governors from the State Bar of Nevada, and presidents and leaders from other affinity bars. Many federal and district court judges, city council members, and other influential legal and business professionals were also present. During the event, the city of Las Vegas recognized SABA-LV’s pivotal work for the state’s South Asian and other minority legal communities and officially declared August 10 “South Asian Bar Association of Las Vegas Day.”

As Ayesha steps out of her role as SABA-LV vice president – a position she has held since September 2022 – to pursue other meaningful ventures, she looks forward to remaining an active member of the organization’s many valuable initiatives and events. The group is already setting its sights on a higher scholarship fundraising goal for 2025.

At Spencer Fane, Ayesha is a partner in the firm’s Health Care practice group, where she works with physicians and other health care professionals, along with various health care and closely held businesses, in a wide range of corporate, transactional, regulatory, and licensure matters.
