Spencer Fane attorney Rob Warzel recently helped judge the Willem C. Vis Moot Competition in Vienna, Austria. The global competition, which invites law students to practice international commercial sales law and arbitration, boasts more than 2,500 students and 1,200 attorneys, professors, and other legal professionals from approximately 90 countries each year.
Rob, who participated in the competition twice as a law student, joined judges from Poland, Czechia, Romania, Ukraine, Switzerland, Italy, Iran, and the U.S. in “arbitrating” multiple rounds of the competition over two days. He witnessed students from countries including Iraq, Mexico, Germany, and India participate in the simulated written exercises and oral hearings, based on a dispute from a contract of sale between two countries which must follow a set of arbitral rules in the nation of “Danubia” to be settled.
Throughout the competition, Rob was able to network with attorneys from around the world, fostering diverse connections that lend to more comprehensive legal perspectives. He brings this unique learning experience back to Spencer Fane, where his practice encompasses all aspects of human resources counseling, employment litigation, and traditional labor law.
