Spencer Fane attorney Megan Clontz was recently featured in an American Bankruptcy Institute’s 2023 40 Under 40 award profile following her recent honor.
In her profile, Megan’s focus on volunteerism and mentorship is highlighted. While in law school, she earned the Dean’s Community Service Award and Order of the Samaritan from the University of Alabama School of Law for her volunteer work with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and she continues her work through local alumni associations, nonprofit organizations, and her church.
“The members of the 2023 class are an inspiration for the commitment, creativity and ingenuity that they demonstrate in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “This diverse collection of honorees is comprised of future leaders that will drive ABI and the insolvency community forward.”
ABI annually identifies 40 top industry professionals who “demonstrate remarkable ability, leadership, and achievement in the bankruptcy and insolvency community.” Selected by a group of experienced insolvency professionals, each honoree has accomplished outstanding professional achievements and provided exemplary service to the industry. This is the third consecutive year a firm attorney has received this honor; Megan joins Jason Kathman and Andrea Chase, the firm’s 2022 and 2021 honorees, in earning this distinction.
At Spencer Fane, Megan focuses her practice on representing clients in small-business reorganizations and restructurings and debtor and creditor rights litigation in both state and federal courts. She works to protect her clients’ assets in all aspects of bankruptcy and related litigation, including preferences, fraudulent transfers, dischargeability, and state law-based actions.
