Spencer Fane is pleased to announce attorney Jason Smith has been named a Trusted Adviser by the Springfield Business Journal. Jason is one of just three lawyers selected for the 2023 list.
For its 10th year, the Springfield Business Journal Trusted Adviser awards honored 20 businesspeople. Jason was recognized among the other honorees at a September 29 award ceremony and featured in a September 22 special Springfield Business Journal issue.
In his profile, Jason describes why making himself available to field questions and provide legal counsel in a timely manner is part of his job.
“As litigators, we often focus on trials, mediations, arbitrations, etc., but in reality, my greatest successes involve proactively minimizing risks and seeing my clients’ businesses thrive and grow because they aren’t unnecessarily tying up resources in legal matters,” he stated in his profile. “I don’t want them to waste time or money in situations that could lead to adversity and difficulties.”
Jason also discussed why following trends most relevant to his clients and their industries is more important than tracking legal industry trends.
“If there’s an issue in the business world, it will create many different issues in the legal world,” Jason said.
At Spencer Fane, Jason serves as Springfield Office Managing Partner. He is a trial lawyer who represents clients from individuals to Fortune 500 companies in business matters and litigation throughout the country. Jason has defended class action cases for clients such as retailers, banks, and universities.
Jason is the second consecutive Trusted Adviser from the Spencer Fane Springfield office; attorney Rod Nichols was honored as part of the 2022 class.
