Spencer Fane attorney Jacob Hollars authored an article about the Colorado Court of Appeals case Gomez v. Walker that was recently published in the Colorado Banker.
Jacob’s article, No More Working For The Weekend: Colorado Statutes Of Limitations No Longer Extended If Limitations Period Ends On Weekend Or Court Holiday, originated as a firm blog post. In it, he outlines why the ruling is “of profound importance to all litigators and clients.”
“Lawyers and their clients now cannot wait until the next business day if their limitations period ends on a weekend or legal holiday,” Jacob said. “Instead, they must now either file on the weekend or holiday or file their case before the weekend or holiday. Otherwise, they risk having their case dismissed as untimely.”
At Spencer Fane, Jacob is a litigator specializing in real estate, special district, commercial, and appellate matters. He represents companies in commercial disputes, such as breach of contract and real estate matters, and assists them in protecting their business.
