Spencer Fane was proud to serve as one of the sponsors for the LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair July 24-26 in Chicago. Attorneys Tracey Wallace, Bill Hopkins, Elizabeth Lally, and DJ Healey and staff member Stephen Flanery represented the firm at the event, with DJ also serving as an event presenter.
The Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair is the largest LGBTQ+ legal conference in the country, with more than 2,000 LGBTQ+ and ally legal professionals attending annually. The Career Fair promotes inclusion for LGBTQ+ candidates within industry recruiting efforts while the conference programming offers a variety of sessions, workshops, networking and career planning opportunities, and practice area institutes. DJ co-led two separate conference sessions.
On July 25, DJ moderated the panel Courtroom Careers for Trans, Nonbinary, and Queer Lawyers. This workshop featured attorneys and litigation-jury consultants discussing challenges and opportunities for nontraditional lawyers and their clients. Next, on July 26, DJ co-led Lavender Law’s Intellectual Property Institute alongside other IP thought leaders. This meeting allowed participants to share insights and discuss effective legal strategies.
