Spencer Fane attorney DeAndrea Washington was recently invited to attend the Dean’s Diversity Dialogue: Texas Big Law, Black Law Partner/Corporate Counsel Summit organized by the Dean of the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC), Leonard M. Baynes, and retired UHLC professor, Anthony R. Chase.
DeAndrea was one of 134 Black “big law partners and corporate counsel in Houston” invited to this exclusive event for a discussion with key stakeholders in the legal community on recruitment, retention, and collaboration among diverse attorneys in Texas.
Six panelists led sessions, and the meeting ended with an open dialogue to network, and attendees discussed ways to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the legal industry.
DeAndrea provided her unique perspective during the breakout session, sharing her experiences as a DEI advocate at Spencer Fane. She currently serves as a DEI advisor to the Spencer Fane Executive Committee and a member of the DEI Committee.
