Implicit Bias in the Legal Profession

June 21, 2021

Spencer Fane attorney Ruthie White recently spoke at the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston’s Implicit Bias in the Legal Profession event, where she participated in a discussion about unconscious bias in the legal field.

Ruthie co-presented with the 127th District Court in Harris County, Texas Judge Ravi K. Sandill and Baker Botts LLP Partner Natalie Gonzales. The panel defined implicit bias, offered ways to improve your own bias, and promoted diversity and inclusion in the legal field.

At Spencer Fane, Ruthie helps employers resolve labor and employment disputes in and out of court. She is an involved community member, serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, contributes pro bono legal services to the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, and is a frequent speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars for law schools and bar associations.
