Tracey Wallace and Ruthie White Talk Labor and Employment Law at NELC Conference

Spencer Fane attorneys Tracey Wallace and Ruthie White were panelists at the 28th Annual National Employment Law Council (NELC) Conference May 3-4 in Washington D.C.

Tracey spoke during the event’s first breakout session, Traditional Labor Law. She joined fellow panelists Jason Kim of Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg and Tiffany Fordyce of Greenberg Traurig to discuss the most noteworthy and recent labor law developments and predictions. Topics included the Joy Silk standard, misclassification and gig worker employment status, and more. Bill Stovall of Ingredion served as moderator.

The following day, Ruthie joined Shareef Farag of BakerHostetler for the session, Wage and Hour Hot Topics – Newest Trends & Upcoming Issues. Moderated by Flowserve’s Hisham Masri, the panel examined the nuances of the wage-and-hour landscape across America. Topics included pay transparency and equity, the impact of the Fifth Circuit’s Swales decision, the DOL’s proposed independent contractor rule, and more.

These sessions served as part of the NELC Conference’s practical, actionable insight into recent developments, trends, and strategies shaping employment law. Industry thought leaders participated in networking, dine-arounds, CLE programming, and more. Attorneys James Crumlin and DeAndrea Washington also attended the conference.
