Ayesha Mehdi Named ABA Health Law Section Leader

September 20, 2022

Spencer Fane is pleased to announce attorney Ayesha Mehdi has been appointed a leader of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Health Law Section, including as Chair of the Healthcare Fraud & Compliance Committee and Vice Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Her term – her second consecutive for each role – runs September 1, 2022, through August 31, 2023.

The D&I Committee supports the ABA’s Goal III initiative “to eliminate bias and enhance diversity” and will work to achieve that goal within the Section. It works to encourage and support diversity of speakers, as to background and perspective, geography, type of practice, and content, in all Health Law Section programming.

The Healthcare Fraud & Compliance Interest Group addresses topical, cutting-edge issues that are the focus of fraud and abuse prevention, investigations, and prosecutions.

The Health Law Section is the voice of the national health law bar within the ABA. Its members represent all segments of the health care industry, including physicians, hospitals, and other institutional providers; teaching and research organizations; managed care organizations; and other third-party payers, pharmaceutical companies, and device manufacturers.

At Spencer Fane, Ayesha works closely with physicians and other health care professionals, along with various health care and closely held businesses, in a wide range of corporate, transactional, regulatory, and licensure matters. Ayesha serves as outside counsel for her clients to help them reach their goals in physician employment, recruitment, mergers & acquisitions, and joint ventures, as well as providing solutions when dealing with professional board complaints, reimbursement issues, and corporate compliance.
