Andrew Brought Talks OSHA Compliance with New CDC COVID Guidelines with Business Insurance

September 19, 2022

Spencer Fane attorney Andrew Brought recently discussed with Business Insurance the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) lack of updates to its COVID-19 guidance in the wake of the CDC’s updated guidelines concerning quarantine and isolation.

In the article, COVID Workers Comp Legislation Trails Off, Drew discussed with reporter Louise Esola why employers should follow the CDC guidelines pertaining to quarantine and isolation to demonstrate they are providing a workplace free of recognized hazards and meeting OSHA obligations,  even if OSHA’s guidance was last updated more than one year ago in August 2021.

Drew shared, “Because OSHA’s guidance is premised on the CDC’s recommendations, the agency will be forced to acknowledge the significant change, even if it takes OSHA a period of time to update their guidance.”

At Spencer Fane, Andrew counsels manufacturers, industrial clients, and businesses with complex environmental and workplace safety/OSHA matters. He currently serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and has held other leadership positions at the firm, including co-chair of the Environment and Energy practice group.
