Spencer Fane Charitable Giving Recipient Hosts Race, Place & Diversity Awards

September 28, 2020

Spencer Fane was proud to serve as presenting sponsor of the Race, Place & Diversity Award Presentation hosted by the Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey (KCFAA), which has been a part of the firm’s Charitable Giving Program since 2017.

As an organization whose mission is to unify the Kansas City community with culturally diverse programs, performances, and events, KCFAA presented its annual Race, Place & Diversity Award to U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Judith Jamison, the Artistic Director Emerita of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Moderated by Emmy award winning choreographer, actress and director Debbie Allen and former local television reporter Chris Hernandez, the two-part awards ceremony was hosted virtually on Sept. 14 and Sept. 24.

The Race, Place & Diversity Award was created to honor an individual and/or local organization whose actions demonstrate a commitment to advance diversity and equity. Booker and Jamison were selected for their “contributions to the American cultural landscape” and shared their insights on race and diversity and its importance to America’s success.
