Spencer Fane attorney Pat McInerney was recently quoted in an article for the Kansas City Business Journal on COVID-19 related fraud.
Titled “Businesses beware: Financial fraud is on the rise,” the article warns businesses of current scams and discusses risks to avoid, including the risk of a government investigation.
With an increase in attention to price gouging claims, business owners have to justify price increases. “You have to be able to explain that you’re trying to play by the rules, but the market is driving the increases, because it’s an active area of enforcement right now,” Pat explained. “There’s even more attention if you’re in a critical area like medical supplies or medical services.”
